Stephen Colbert already has done so much for the Winter Olympics, literally raising money with his fans to support the U.S. team. But when he talked with David Ross about the history of Olympic art, he slowly realized that the Vancouver games, which start tonight, are missing a little something. A little something named humanity. And power. And when you think of those things, you realize that these Olympics need more Colbert.

Stephen Colbert has a recurring bit he calls “Better Know a District,” in which he spotlights one of the 400-and-something (I cannot be bothered with details) districts that make up Congress’ House of Representatives, and last night, he went back to Chicago’s North Side, where Colbert himself moved as a young man to begin his comedy career in improv. Yes, the 5th District of Illinois has the iO Theater and Second City, but also Wrigley Field and the Cubs, and the gay neighborhood. So many choices for comedy!
