Colbert Delivers Own State Of The Union Speech

Friday January 29, 2010 7:35 AM

If you think President Barack Obama gave a long and winding State of the Union address on Wednesday night, just take a look at how Stephen Colbert opened his show last night. He shook hands, delivered a baby, and his own state of affairs. Very presidential. “Ladies and gentlemen, the Stephen Colbert of the United States!” Oh, wait. This was a rebuttal of the Virginia Governor’s speech, or as Colbert called him, “the white President.” If you blink, you may miss the brief appearance of Conan O’Brien, too. Sort of.

Two of my favorite other Colbert moments? When Colbert sang about Christmas with Elvis Costello, and Colbert duets with Alicia Keys.

Posted by Sean L. McCarthy, who voted for Colbert.
